I. Joined. Facebook.
You all know my issues with online sites to chat with other people. Pointless, really. Go outside. There are plenty of people out there. And honestly... I don't think I like it. See, I was right. Umm, as always.
I know for some people, ahem, Gina, it's like a phone... kinda. Talk to who you want, leave the others alone. I got it... but here are my complaints:
No, I don't need to tell you what I'm doing right now. Really? Katie is... Really? What is it your looking for? Happy? Sad? Going to the bathroom, brb?... just weird
Also, if I didn't talk to you 15 years ago... not gonna start now. I feel rude, but oh well. It's facebook. It's an online site. It's not your world. Get over it. Can I be your friend? Why? I wasn't back in the day for a reason I'm sure.
And, I'm not here to make new friends, I have friends already, lots of them. I'm here to catch up with old ones. I'm sorry, but the internet is not where I need to meet people... I have a life.
Yeah, I did find some old friends, was able to talk to them, see pics of the kids. And that is awesome. So it does have some perks. I have found people, people have found me. Was able to catch up with friends that were a big part of my life way back when.
But then, there are other people... even people I've never heard of, sending a friend request. Umm, no.
Thoughts? Questions? Talk shit to me?
Bring it on.

Just wondering... what's the difference between making new friends on blog, and making new friends elsewhere online? Pretty sure I know your reasons (LOL) but tell the world. =).
Ur funny.
I dunno really. The blog was created for friends and family back home... so they can stay connected, keep in touch with boys, see pictures. The friends part was a bonus.
And maybe blog is like a mothers group? We all read about others kids, get ideas, talk crap... together. And it's safe?
It can be argued I'm sure that it's probably about the same as FB. But those online sites were made so ugly to me... that mentally I guess, it's just different.
So umm really... no solid answer for ya. Besides... it's just different.
I have never wanted to join before but my SIL is trying to talk me into it. I think I will just stick to blogging. :)
I have said it before but peer pressure does not end in High school. We started on the face book thing last week and yeah I am not so sure I think I will stick to Blog world for now and check in on face book if I am Really Bored
ha ha! O love Facebook but beware it can become like crack if you are not careful. I have to schedule fb time so I don't get to involved and allow it to hinder my everyday life. I got so many people addicted. I knew you would eventually get there! Glad to see you blogging again.
I heart Facebook, but really only for the reason that you listed as a perk.
I love that I've been able to reconnect with some good friends that I've lost touch with and that is the only reason I'm on there.
I don't update my "what are you doing now" because I'm off doing it, not typing about it.
So, I love it for very specific reasons and it has it's place in my life, but the rest of it can just fade into the backgroud as far as I'm concerned.
I'm impressed. I have yet to give in & join...for all of the reasons you listed! I'm sure I'll cave eventually, like when it's not cool anymore.
Keeep us posted on how it goes.
That's funny. I just caved and joined yesterday.
I don't see what all the fuss is about, is it supposed to be like myspace? Because I don't get that either.
Whatever Facebook. Shmacebook.
I like to see what others have been up to since high school and see pics...a few who were thought were gay then are...comfirmed on facebook. For that reason and checking out peoples pics I don't do much with it. I do chat with my close friends when we are on at the same time so that's a bonus because I don't have to hold up my end of a phone conversation. I can chat all while shopping online or searching for whatever it is I am wondering about at that moment.
i'm so with you on this one. i despise it, i will never join it, and i think it's pathetic.
i'm sure there are a few perks, but seriously, if you're so hooked on it that you have to tell people what you're doing??? GET A LIFE.
although who am i to talk, with my little blogging addiction.
whateva.
Thank you! I could not have said it better myself! I'm a member, but don't do anything with my account. I don't understand the whole Ashlee is...thing either. I want to know where these people are getting their extra time, because seriously.....they could give some of it to me. I could use it.
I guess I need a life LMAO!! At least I can laugh at myself and accept my very few faults :P
i like facebook. it's a lot less...skanky...than myspace. although i do still get the random friend requests from people i don't know. :)
The 25 random facts about people are working my nerves. It's turning into a chain letter of sorts.
It's all the same to me: Myspace, Facebook, Twitter=you can take it or leave it alone. Won't make a difference at all. I'm on all THREE. Can't say I like one more than the other. I'm a blogger and that's enough addiction for me! LOL
p.s. OHHHHHHH and You better FRIEND me on FACEBOOK or else! LOL
I actually think that's it's weird, and quite possibly HILARIOUS too, that people have such strong opinions on this... Facebook, MySpace, etc. Not just here in your blog comments, but all over. Seriously... Facebook is just a website people. Get it, or don't understand it at all... it's just a website. It would be like hating Yahoo, because they provide the opportunity for people to communicate. Or the phone company. What??? What is the big deal really?? Yes, email not public, I get that. So... blogs?? You mean to tell me that the "Gina is..." one sentence is less understandable than writing an entire BLOG about "Gina is..."? Post pictures? Find links? Comment on others? Ha. I am totally amused that some people don't see this similarity.
I'm totally laughing as I write this... not that mad people can't see it... amused that people form such strong opinions about shit that really.doesn't.matter.at.all. Really, my view is, if you spend this energy hating a website, or even LOVING it... or actually "despise it" and "think it's pathetic"... WOW. I just think WOW.
I like your friend Tanyetta and the take it or leave it alone idea. I mean, people, really, you feel peer pressured to join? You "give in" to join? If you do it, please do it because you want to. Really, nobody wants to communicate with you if you don't with them. Don't think you are doing anyone a favor by joining. The people that care that much about you, you already talk to. The rest of the online community doesn't need regretful and resentful people there. 10,000 Mrs. Bittermans on Facebook is no fun for anyone. I encourage you... if you joined and didnt want to, or dont like it, delete your profile. Be a big boy or girl and lead your life the way you think it should be led. Really, I encourage this.
I use myspace, facebook, i blog, build websites, text, talk on the phone, leave voicemails, IM, handwrite letters and cards, and yes, i even talk to people in person. Crazy I know, right? But... all of these... just choices of ways to communicate. Some public, some private... I choose the appropriate one for what I am talking about and who I want to send my message to.
Really, I understand. Because, well, my good friend Katie hates to talk on the phone. But she likes to talk to me. =). So... hating a form of communication convenient when you dont want to use it. I get that. HEH
Katie... You know I had to talk shit. You said talk shit to you. You INVITED me in the blog, and know that this is what I do. HA =).
Don't know any of you, but love to all! Seriously! This is all said in peace! =). Just my opinion!
And this folks is why I love Gina...
I am on Facebook but I don't really get it. I like blogging a lot more. I am learning to defriend people. Like you, if you weren't my friend in high school why would I want to be your friend now?
Of course, unlike then, they NOW realize that I am super cool (well, apparently not since I just used the phrase "super cool").
I feel the same way about FB too and was "pressure" into doing it. How in the world I was pressured is a question I can't answer since anyone and everyone who know me, know me NOT to be the pressured kind. Oh well, I guess there's a first for everything.
Yeah, I wonder why people I never spoke to umpteen years ago think I want to speak to them today. AND why are people I don't know trying to be-friend me simply because I was on their blog "once" a gazillion months ago and they happened to "snatch" my email addy. Whewww glad I got all of that off my chest. Stepping off my soap box now. Have a good day! lol
I'm perfectly happy with my blog. I guess I don't use Facebook because I get the outlet I need through blogging. Plus, Facebook is more like chatting, where blogging can be more like writing, and I love to write.
I like FB. See? I even call it FB for short. :)
It does bug me when people I hardly know from High school add me as a friend... but then I feel bad if I don't add them. I have no idea why.
I have found some people i had completely lost touch with with all my moving. That part i like. :)
